:iconcommentplz:

... 'cos the original was using up half a gig on processing space on the Mac. :fear:

This is the second of my promo posters for Triple Life, featuring Matthew the UFO Photographer, and Walter the extra-terrestrially trained surgeon. Both run what seems to be on the surface a harmless hobbyist group. You wish. :fear:

Triple Life is created by Leeann Hamilton 2010.

If only it were that easy! Vision and other senses are incredibly subjective. I can't even know for sure if we see red as the same color! Your red could be my green, or purple, or anything. My white, your blue, vice versa. It's a fascinating and impenetrable subject.

ಠ_ಠ .... naaahhh, I kinda need to see red as it really is. For, you know. Making art. With.

... Though the astigmatism in my left eye makes me draw unbalanced faces from time to time, so I'm no good at properly rendering symmetry without using an aid for drawing with.

Yes, to an extent. Our brains are hardwired to respond to wavelengths of light in objective ways. It's why orange is known to universally enhance appetite. It's because of this hard-wiring that red and blue get used like they do... It's hard to explain.

Say you look at a cardboard box, and note it's color. If you had to chose it from a giant swatch of colors, you'd be able to find the right(or closest) one, of course everyone who isn't colorblind would. If I looked at the same box, and had to find it's color on the same swatch, my choice would always be in the same neighborhood as yours, because the wavelengths of light are the same, in other words, an objective thing.

However, once we get past the objective level, and into the actual neural networks of the brain, things become quite a bit different. Although there is a "true" cardboard brown, it can hardly be said to be a color. Rather, it is just a rather precise frequency of photons that the box reflects, somewhere around 527nm(not as accurate as I'd like it to be).

Colorblind animals see the world closer to as it truly is. Thanks to our trichromatic eyes, we can add several extra dimensions to the datastream traveling up the optic nerve, inferring via comparison how close the light emitted by various objects is to the three pigments in the cone cells within our eyes. The brain interprets this as color, but while the frequencies of light are certainly objective, how the brain interprets it in each person is up for debate.

Lol, rant.

Lol, don't mind.

Apparently the colour of the sky in Ancient Athens was the same colour as wine and sheep. The old-tyme Greek civilisation never saw any need to assign colours to things.

That is a concept I can seriously dig -- and that brain-eyeball's underlighting is done just perfectly. I would buy anything that had this as a front cover. Instantly.

..... :la: Well, it WILL be printed as a large poster by the end of May as a faux-Choose Your Own Adventure 'bookcover'... with dog-eared corners and all.

Thanks for liking the alien head, I was quietly spazzing over it earlier today when the lights and details came together! :D
